What is Tithes and Offering? Tithes and Offering is a way God wants His Christians (Believers) to support the ministry where we are taught the Word of God with our financial contributions. Nehemiah 10:37-38 Israel obeys God and brought the tithes to the storehouse. Matthew 23:23 Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for not obeying the weightier matters of the law along with tithing.
Who (All God’s people even pastors) No one is exempted from paying of tithes, not even Bishops, Pastors, Apostles and all other ministers of the Gospel.
Somebody said they don’t pay Tithes because that was under the law. Abraham loved the lord long before the Law was given to the people of Israel through Moses. In the above passage we see Abraham paying tithes to Melchizedek who was a Priest of the most High God. Gen 14:18-20
Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him. Heb 7:9-10
Why do we pay Tithes and Offering? God ordain it so we can help with the ministry with the rent, light, gas, water, phone, accessories, outreach, administrations, benevolence, and our Pastor needs.
We paid tithes in obedience, honor and love for God and the ministry.
Malachi 3:10 explain the reason for tithing. Bring all tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this, said the Lord of hosts. If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessings that there will not be room enough to receive it.
The account in Hebrews 7:1-8 shows that tithe is payable to Jesus Christ our High Priest today. So long as Jesus is still the High Priest today; so long as Jesus is still the High Priest of our faith; tithes must be paid
When do we pay our Tithes and Offering? Every time we get paid from our employment, unexpected income, increase in our finances, every time God bless you with finances. The bibles tell us to tithe off our increase means revenue, and revenue is the top line figure before deductions are made…in other words “gross income”. Deuteronomy 14:22, Luke 18:12
How much should we pay? Ten percent of your gross earrings which means if your gross earnings are $500.00 dollars a week. You will pay $50.00 a week in tithes.
Offerings give your Best $5 $10 $25 $50 $75 $100 dollars or more a week or monthly. God wants our very best at all times! Deuteronomy 16:10, Luke 6:38
Because God said I will give back to you more than you gave me. God will cause people to bless you! ....God keeps His promises!
Luke 11:42
“But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone”
Jesus commended the Pharisees for the meticulous way they gave their tithes; but chided them for neglecting the weightier matter of the law, in which they prided themselves.
Jesus never canceled the payment of tithe. Neither did He in any way suggest the cancellation of tithe. Payment of tithes existed before the law came in, was upheld during the dispensation of the law and is still in force to date. The era of grace does not do away with the payment of tithes.
